Tavrida National V.I.Vernadsky University

 

In 1990 under the guidance of Doctor of Economic Sciences, Prof. V.A.Podsolonko there was established the Chair of Economical Informatics and Automated Management Systems (later the Chair of Management and Marketing). The Chair succeeded in opening of actual for the transit economy specialities and creating the basis for new Chairs and Faculties.

As a result, by the initiative and with support of the University's rector Prof. N.V.Bagrov, the reviver of the progressive development traditions, Tavrida National V.I.Vernadsky University started year 2000 having a Department of Management in its structure first in the Crimean history.

Management Faculty trains students for the specialities Management of Overseas Economic Activity" and "Management of Organizations" (licensed admittance of 200 students per year for all forms of training). "Management of Organizations" includes the following specializations: "Management of Entrepreneurship Activity", "Management at the Market of Goods and Services", "Management of Hotel, Health Resort and Tourist Services", "Management of Personnel" and "Management of Nature Exploitation". The graduates of all specialities are given the qualification of "economist-manager" of the educational qualification level "specialist".

Since January 2000 there has been carrying out the work on opening one more specially of the Management Department "State Service" with the licensed admittance of 90 students per year. It is planned within the speciality to provide the master's degree for those who will work in the bodies of state and local government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The faculty comprises 3 chairs, specializing in education of the students of the above-mentioned specialities and specializations:

Chair of the Theory of Economics and Management - specializations "Management of Entrepreneur Activity " and "Management at the Market of Goods and Services";

Chair of Management and Marketing - specialization "Management of Hotel, Health Resort and Tourist Services";

Chair of State and Regional Management - specializations "Management of Overseas Economic Activity" and "State Service".

Each chair (at average 10 people) includes 1-2 doctors of economical sciences and 4-6 Candidates of mostly economic sciences (totally 6 doctors and 14 Candidates of sciences).

The faculty includes the scientific sections: "Research Centre of Management Problems of Enterprises and Regions Social and Economic Development", "Crimean section of the Ukrainian Regional Sciences Association" (under the lead of the dean of the Management Faculty V.A.Podsolonko, section works within the plans of the European Regional Sciences Association (ERSA) activity).

Other sections are the Consulting Centre, Centre for Cooperation of South Ukraine and European Universities, permanent scientific seminar "School of Entrepreneur".

The department has linkages and operative relations with universities in different countries, such as France, Italy, Finland, Germany and Ireland.

Department has an expertise in the participating in various international projects:

- Project "Corporate Management in Ukraine", International Finance Corporation, Canada Agency for International Development, British Fund "Know-How", 2000-2001;
- Consortium for Enhancement of Ukraine Business Education (CEUME), US Agency for International Development (2000-2001);
- Center of Qualification Enhancement of Lion Higher School (France) jointly with Kiev National University of Taras Shevchenko "Management, Marketing and Applied Economics" (1993-1995);
- Soros Fund "Training Economics Teachers" (1995-1996);
- Eurasia Project jointly with Maryland University (USA) and Odessa State University, "Applied State Science and Management" (1995-1997);
- Tempus-Tacis Pre-project "Environmental Economics in the South of Ukraine" (1996-1997). ;
- Tempus-Tacis Joint European Project "Environmental Economics in the South of Ukraine". JEP 10304/97 (1998-2000);
- Tacis EDUK 9801 "Support to Management Education in the Crimea". (1999-2000);

The department sees its major priority as the strengthening of its academic programs through curricula improvement and faculty development.
