It exists from the first days of Tavricheskiy University. Ten years
(from 1925 to 1935) it was directed by a prominent scholar Professor A. M. Lukianenko
and then (from 1935 to 1940) by Professor V. I. Borkovskiy (later Academician
of the USSR Academy of Sciences). Later the Department -was directed by Professors
A. I. Germanovich, V. N. Migirin, 0. M. Sokolov, V. M. Ronginskiy. Today it is
directed by Professor A. N. Rudiakov

Russian language);
Assistant Professors: A. V. Petrov (lexicology
of modem Russian language, practical course on orthography and punctuation),

modem Russian language), A. K. Gadomskiy (the Polish language, introduction
to linguistics, dialectology) and V. N. Alieva (practical course of the

Dorofeev, A.P. Prokopets, L.A. Moria-Mitsyk. The Department has its own school
of research into semantics of the Russian language at the lexical and grammatical
level. A collection of works titled Study of Lexical and Grammatical Semantics
of the Russian Language is published by this Department. International conferences
on fundamental linguistics are held annually. |
