Tavrida National V.I.Vernadsky University was opened in 1918 although the decision to establish it in the Crimea as an institution of higher education was made in 1916 by the government of Tsarist Russia.

For these 80 years of its existence, it has served as a center of science, education and culture, not only for the Crimea, but also for the whole country of Ukraine. Many thousands have gradu-

ated from the University and work in more than fifty countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.Tavrida National University has strong links with agricultural, industrial, social and cultural institutions. It provides technical and scientific higher education and helps to spread applied knowledge.

Due to economic and political changes in Ukraine, the University faces a lot of challenges. The main one is improving qualification or modification of the old curricula and courses in many fields, including economics and management.
