DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY
S.F. Kotov, assistant professor,
candidate of biological sciences
It was established in 1918, the time when Tavricheskiy University was opened. The Department was organised by the Corresponding Member of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences Professor N.I.Kuznetsov, who set up a laboratory for plants morphology and anatomy, and Academician of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences Professor V.I.Palladin, who set up a laboratory for plants physiology and microbiology. A botanical room was opened on the basis of these labs and later transformed into the Department of Botany. The Department is now directed by Assistant Professor S.F.Kotov
Students graduate as biologists specialising in botany.

on flora and vegetation; and study of populations of rare and endangered plants.
