History

It was established in 1961 as the Department of Human and Animal Anatomy and Physiology. Today it is directed by Professor V.G.Sidiakin, Doctor of Biology

Specialization

Students graduate as biologists specialised in human and animal physiology.

Professors: V.G.Sidiakin (human and animal physiology, higher nervous activity), A.M.Stashkov (human and animal physiology, biophysics, radiobiology, electrophysiology, general physiology of the nervous system and physiology of system processes) and N.A.Temuriants (histology, physiology of blood and coronar vascularsystem, physiology of endocrine glands), I.I. Koreniuk (human and animal physiology, physiology of central nervous system, physiology of analysers);
Assistant Professors: L.D.Lesova (anatomy, biology of individual development), S.A.Panova (physiology of labour processes, ecological physiology of a human being, age and evolutionary physiology), V.M.Efimova (valeology, age physiology and school hygiene), A.V.Yantsev (physiology of vegetative nervous system, mathematical methods in biology, anatomy, biophysics);

Areas of Research

Analysis and study of interneural relations in the central nervous system;
neural and humoral mechanisms of nonionizing radiation; human and animal ethology.
The Department offers postgraduate and doctoral programs.
