It was established in 1972 and is now directed by Professor M.K.Manankov, Doctor of Biology

Students graduate as biologists specialised in plants physiology.

Professors: M.K.Manankov (general microbiology, biotechnology, biology of cultivated plants) and S.N.Kabuzenko (physiology of plants, biotechnology, water regime of plants, salt tolerance of plants, physiology of a plant cell);
Assistant Professors: V.G.Blokhin (fundamentals of environmental biochemistry of plants, biotechnology, plant breathing, plant stability, mineral nutrition of plants, microelements, engineering enzymology), L.M.Teplitskaya (cytology, virology, micro-cloning, physiological foundations of tissue culture) and I.P.Oturina (microbiology with fundamentals of virology, photosynthesis, photobiology, biologically active substances);
Assistant S.I.Chmeleva (fundamentals of scientific research).
