History

It was established in 1976 after division of the Department of General History. Professor S. A. Sekirinskiy was it's first head. Since 1987, it has been directed by Assistant Professor A. G. Gertsen

Faculty Members

Professors: G. M. Burov (archaeology, stone age, copper and bronze age in East Europe) and A. I. Aibabin (ethnic history of the medieval Crimea, ancient history of Slavs, Byzantine archaeology);

A. G. Gertsen (history of primitive society, ethnology, the Crimean 'cave cities'), V. N. Danilenko (historical chronology, ancient archaeology), L. S. Moiseenkova (medieval history, culture and art of West Europe in 5-13 cc.), A. R. Nikiforov (medieval history, the Crimean cities in 13-16 cc.), E. B. Petrova (ancient history, literary antiquities as a historical source) and I. N. Khrapunov (archaeology, ethnology, early iron age); Senior Lecturer V. A. Korostelin (ancient history, Roman law);
Assistant V. E. Naumenko (medieval history, history of Byzantium).
