It was established in 1976 as the result of division of the Department
of General History. Assistant Professor P. K. Tarasov lead the Department from
its origin. Since 1997, the Department has been directed by Assistant Professor
L. A. Pashkovskiy
| Professors: D. P. Ursu (methodology
of historical science, history of international organisations, historiography
of the history of African countries) and M. F. Slinkin (history of national
liberation movement, history of Afghan crisis, diplomatic etiquette and protocol);
Assistant Professors: Yu. I. Gorbunov (modem and contemporary
history of Asian and African countries, history of Oriental civilisation, computer
technology in historical science), S. P. Goriianskiy (modern history of
the West European and North American countries, modern history of international
relations, history of the Western civilisation, history and computers), Yu.
N. 2adavysvichka (contemporary history of the West European and North American
countries, diplomatic history of the WWI, contemporary historiography of the history
of foreign countries), L. A. Pashkovskiy (history of southern and western
Slavs, diplomatic history of the Balkans in the 20th century, history of capitals
of foreign Slavic countries), S. S. Schevelev (history of Asian and African
countries, history of the Middle East conflict, history of Palestine) and S.
V. Yurchenko (contemporary history of the West European and North American
countries, diplomatic history of the WWII, contemporary history of the United
States, history of diplomacy); Assistant L. A. Kicha (history of southern
and western Slavs, history of Yugoslavia). Graduates are specialists in world
history, modem and contemporary history of foreign countries, and history of international
relations. They work in universities, colleges, secondary schools, various NASU
institutes, government and public agencies, and mass media.
| Insufficiently explored periods
of modem and contemporary history of European, American, Asian and African countries;
values, rules of conduct, collective perception of the world by foreign nations;
history of international organisations. The Department offers postgraduate
programs. History of International Relations, History of Foreign Countries. are maintained with the NASU institutes,
Shevchenko Kiev National University, Donetsk National University, Dnepropetrovsk
National University, Zaporozhia State University, the Institute of History at
Yagellon University (Kharkov, Poland), Lomonosov Moscow State University, the
RAS Institute of Oriental Studies, the RAS Institute of Slavic and Balkan Studies,
the RAS Institute for the United States and Canada. The faculty members of this
Department deliver reports at international symposia, lecture and publish their
academic works in foreign countries. |
